Valencia Fashion Walk [BETA]: One Statue, One Square, One Exhibition

New Walkshop! Testing, testing, testing! Join me on the first beta-tester mission to research and develop a new offering: Fashion Walk Valencia.

Y'all know (maybe) that I've worked in fashion media and I love fashion as a construct that teaches us about our selves and our times. I'm partnering with a few people and places to design Fashion Walk Valencia. It is an overwhelming and exciting undertaking.

Bite-sized baby-steps, or somesuch... On this first walk, we'll explore the basic DNA of Spanish fashion, visit a couple emblematic fashion places, check out a fashion exhibition, and finish with a rare piece of fashion-forward public art. A leisurely stylish couple hours.

We'll gather in Plaza de la Reina (by the oasis) and make our way to La Nau for Trafico de Modas, the first fashion exhibition in this institution's 600 year history! It chronicles the rise and fall of an important Valencian brand/scene from the 1980's. A fascinating glimpse into a cool era. We'll proceed for a flaneur finish in the Glorieta park.

This walkshop is free with free admission to the exhibition. The host will pass the hat at the end for welcome donations to keep this project sustainable but the point is to learn about fashion in Valencia/Spain.

About the Host: Alexey is a storyteller who has taught cultural criticism at Academy of Art University (San Francisco) and International Fashion Academy (Paris). In 2023 he was on the jury of CLEC Fashion Festival in Valencia and had an art installation in the City of Arts and Sciences. He also hosts Book Lovers Unplugged, a literary open mic at Ruzafa's only English bookstore, and produces @standupcomedyvalencia events. Most importantly, Alexey is a fulltime Gemini with ADHD.
