Skywalk Trail and Iceberg Lake
VERY DIFFICULT HIKE - NO FEE (Preference will be given to those who have hiked with the group and demonstrated an ability to maintain a moderate pace with significant elevation gain. NO SLOW HIKERS PLEASE. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP. The group size will be kept small because of parking availability. Carpooling is required.) On this very difficult 8 to 10 hour hike, we will hike the Skywalk Trail (North Loop), stopping at Iceberg Lake on the way. Starting from Mountain View Drive, the hike will take us high into the alpine, following the scenic forested trail near 19 Mile Creek before arriving at a beautiful meadow in the foreground of Rainbow Glacier. We will then ascend a boulder field to Iceberg Lake next to Rainbow Mountain, offering stunning views of the region. We will then take the Skywalk North and Screaming Cat trails back down. Length: Approximately 20 km round trip Elevation Gain – Approximately 1,200 m Hiking time – 8-10 hours Please remember to pay your driver gas money ($5 per hour is pretty standard). You also verify that you are in good health and are physically capable of carrying out this hike. Therefore, you agree to release the Meetup Group, the Organizer , the Meetup Host, and any affiliate from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury which may arise out of participation in the Meetup event, including during transportation to and from the event. This hike is not offered through Step Outside Adventures, Inc. Directions We will meet first at St. David's United Church in West Vancouver. We will then take Highway #1 westbound and continue on Highway 99. As you enter the Whistler area, continue following the highway and pass the turn off to Whistler Village, continuing north on the Sea To Sky. About 4km beyond the turnoff to the village, turn left onto Meadow Lane. Immediately after turning left and leaving the highway, turn right onto Parkwood Drive. At a 3-way stop sign, turn left onto Mountain View Drive and follow this street uphill, going straight through a 4-way intersection, and veering right until you reach the end of the street. Park along the outside edges of the cul-de-sac. Make sure to check the parking signs to avoid being ticketed or towed.
