About us
Food at our events is vegan but anyone interested in lowering their carbon footprint by eating more plant based meals, even if never planning to go fully vegan, is welcome. For safety reasons, we require members to use **a real first name and face photo** on their profile.
Meatless Meetup is run by a group of volunteer hosts who believe it to be of critical environmental importance that we drastically reduce our meat and dairy consumption. We recommend Earthsave Canada (https://www.earthsave.ca/) for information about the plant based diet.
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer with us, from collecting cash at restaurants to helping out at potlucks. If you want to meet more people at events, get in touch.
N.B. As last minute cancellations and no shows keep wait-listers out, harm our relationship with restaurants, and can even result in our volunteer hosts having to pay for others' meals, we require you to pay for your meal via e-transfer for set menu events if you no show or cancel without adequate notice. Repeated no shows will result in removal from the group.
Meatless Meetup aims to be a transparent, safe space for all. If you experience any form of harassment, please contact a host immediately.

Solstice Beach Party at Kits Beach
The Boathouse Restaurant, 1305 Arbutus St, Vancouver, BC, CAThis is our annual meetup on the beach to celebrate Solstice. Celebrating Solstice means enjoying the daylight and watching the sun go down circa 9:30. This year we're postponing our beach party until a few weeks after Solstice, so it is after FIFA has finished, as the beach is predicted to be even more crowded than usual during the World Cup.
Bring your own towel or blanket to sit on. If you want others to sit with you, bring a sheet or something.
Also, please bring some vegan snacks to share, such as strawberries, blueberries, pizza, popcorn, chips etc.
Volunteer greeters are needed, so contact us if you are interested.
We're not meeting AT the Boathouse restaurant. We will be directly in front of the restaurant but very close to the water not the restaurant. All attempts to have signs over the years have resulted in the signs blowing over. You will find us by walking along the water's edge NOT by walking along the path beside the restaurant.
Here's a map of approximately where we'll be: https://goo.gl/maps/jzTtiQqNZdBYrxJ1A
Summer solstice is the longest day of the year because the length of time between sunrise and sunset on that day is the yearly maximum. Daylight on Solstice this year will last 16 hours and 15 minutes.
P.S. Let us know if you are going to arrive late but it's best to arrive early. Please arrive before 7:15.
Please bring a guitar if you know how to play and want to sing together. Please don't bring an electronic sound system.
NB. In the case of any rain that day, the event will be postponed to Sunday. Please note: If it is sunny at 6:00 but the sand is wet from rain earlier, the event is still postponed.

Bunny Sanctuary Volunteer Work Party + Vegan Potluck + Blueberry Pick
Rabbitats, 9231 Number 6 Road, Richmond, BC, CAJoin us in helping out with volunteer tasks to help the bunnies at Rabbitats Sanctuary in Richmond! This will be our 3nd time there! This is a family-friendly event and children of all ages are permitted, to help along with their parent(s)/guardian(s).
Rabbitats is a registered charity that provides permanent, communal housing for hundreds of abandoned and at-risk rabbits in Vancouver, Richmond, and other parts of the Lower Mainland. Tasks at the sanctuary will involve cleaning out colonies (living spaces), feeding the bunnies, refilling water dishes, and petting rabbits to help them socialize with humans.
We will start the session by touring the sanctuary and hand-feeding greens to all the bunnies. Then we'll dig into some work. After helping the bunnies for a few hours, we will break at 6pm for a well-deserved vegan potluck dinner! Plus, blueberry bushes are growing and they are ready to be picked and eaten! (please bring containers for picking and take as many as you wish.)
Please bring a plant-based dish to share, with no animal products, including dairy, honey or gelatin. Please bring a plate to eat on, cutlery to eat with, a serving utensil for your dish, and a reusable napkin. We will have a vegan feast!
Dress for the weather (work can be in the sun, or indoors, as you wish), and wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty. Work gloves will be provided, or you can bring your own as well if you wish.
Please keep in mind that Rabbitats is not transit accessible. It's in rural Richmond. Drivers are needed to get out to the sanctuary, so please post if you have a vehicle, if you are willing to drive others, and what city/part of the city you are in (passengers, please pitch in for gas). Your host Alison will reach out to arrange the carpools. We can have a maximum of 11 cars park on the property, with any overflow vehicles to part at the SilverCity parking lot (free), just 3 minutes away,
Visit the Rabbitats website to find out more about this non-profit rabbit rescue. Rabbitats is always in need of volunteers, and bunnies are also up for adoption.

Vegan Night Market at Locarno Beach
Locarno Beach, Vancouver, BC, CAAdmission: FREE!
Join Jon at Locarno Beach to check out the vegan night market and eat dinner.
After the entrance (or essentially the westernmost end where most of the food trucks are), we will be meeting at the first booth to the right (right side means closest to the road).
If people want to split up and do different things, that's okay too. We'll figure that out once we have a chance to look around.
Locarno Beach is the beach after Jericho and before Spanish Banks East. Free parking is available, but can be very hard to find. Transit and bikes are recommended.
