The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) is a friendly outdoor walking club. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. Our club was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. We now have more than 400 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We enjoy walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's enjoyable, healthful, and non-competitive, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

Route Description:
This is a wonderful easy, sometimes breezy, walk along the lower road of Dundarave, West Bay and Altamont neighborhoods. You will encounter beautiful scenery, huge cedars, lovely lavish gardens, quaint tucked-away beaches and architecturally-renowned mansions. Along the route, fascinating “Fun Facts for Free” are noted. (If interested in knowing a little bit more, a separate page will be offered by the host). There are some stairs, some small steps and just the right number of hills to make it interesting.Free Parking: Available in 1400 and 1500 blocks of Argyle Avenue – no time limit. Also available in 1400 and 1500 blocks of Duchess Ave, 2 blocks north of Marine Drive – no time limit.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
This walk will go along English Bay, up the stairs to Ferguson Point past the Teahouse Restaurant. We will then walk along several trails in the old growth forests where you will see some of the oldest trees in the park. Return via the Seawall going clockwise to Coal Harbour.
There are two 5K routes: (i) mostly around the east side of the Seawall and back via the Rose Garden (ii) trails to Beaver Lake, then the Aquarium and back via the Seawall.Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. This area is one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods. A variety of parks and interesting East Vancouver residential streets with lots of trees, including cherry blossoms when in season. Route Description:
Come Walk With Us! This walk is nearly exclusively on the dyke, going out and back, starting through the Village and along the boardwalk by the marina, then to Garry Point Park and up to Blundell Rd. We pass the very historic home of one of the original Steveston pioneers. The variety of birds that you will get to see while walking on the dykes is amazing.
