Walk in Tsawwassen - Heron Rookery & Breakwater Path

Choose between 10 km and 6 km routes.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You’d still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) In the subject line of your email, write MEETUP.
Register (sign in) at the start point between 10:00 am and 10:40 am. The walk will start at 10:45 am sharp. Please be on time; we do not wait for latecomers.
Please note: Although the number of attendees indicated on this page may appear low, be assured that you will be walking with many club members who have not RSVP’d. We rarely have fewer than 15 participants at any of our walks.
Route Description:
This walk explores nature on either side of Highway 17, known to most as the
major transportation route that takes thousands of people and products to
and from Vancouver Island each day. But there is so much more to this area
than just a highway! As you proceed, appreciate the heron rookery (2
nd largest in BC), totem carvings (you are on First Nations Land) and stroll a
scenic dyke featuring some of the cutest “critters” around! Three cheers for
the “yellow-bellied marmot!” Please note that the 6k option does
not extend to the Breakwater Path.
Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members for lunch at Pat Quinn's or another nearby eatery or coffee shop.
NOTE: Once you have RSVP’d, our Meetup site will always show your status as “Unpaid”. This is not a cause for concern. The $1.00 participation fee for the walk is paid at the start point and to save us some work, we will not be recording on Meetup that you have paid it.
