About us

Looking for a relaxed way to boost your wellness, connect with friendly people, and clear your head? Whether you are new in town, want more time outdoors, or simply enjoy walking and good conversation, this group is for you.

We meet on different days and at different times throughout the year for walks and hikes across Vancouver, Clark County, Southwest Washington, and the Washington side of the greater PDX metro area. Our routes range from waterfront paths, parks, and scenic neighborhoods to forest trails, lakeshores, riverfronts, and occasionally more challenging hikes.

Conversation flows naturally, with no pressure to participate. A little awkward small talk is normal, but it is never required. You are welcome to talk, listen, or simply enjoy the walk.

Dogs are welcome, and kids may join when the event and group setting are appropriate. Sometimes we use light conversation prompts to spark ideas. Sometimes we walk quietly. Sometimes we finish with coffee or a quick bite. Everything is optional.

We welcome adults of all backgrounds and genders who are looking for low-pressure social connection, fresh air, movement, and a chance to reset.

Why join?
Meet friendly people from Vancouver and the surrounding region.
Explore parks, trails, waterfronts, and scenic places.
Support your mental and physical well-being.
Enjoy conversation without social pressure.
Be part of an inclusive and welcoming community.

Bring your curiosity, your walking shoes, and leave your worries for later.

Vancouver Walk & Talk: Cruisin’ the Gut Halloween Walk, Hosted by Michael Myers

Vancouver Walk & Talk: Cruisin’ the Gut Halloween Walk, Hosted by Michael Myers

Esther Short Park, 605 Esther Street, Vancouver, WA, US

Join Vancouver Walk & Talk for a special Halloween walk through downtown Vancouver, hosted by Michael Myers.

Friday, October 30 at 5:45 PM

Meet at the Salmon Run Bell Tower at Esther Short Park.

Yes, Michael Myers.

We will meet at the Salmon Run Bell Tower, head over to Main Street, and walk north along the historic Cruisin’ the Gut corridor to Fourth Plain Boulevard. From there, we will turn around and cruise Main Street back downtown to the Bell Tower.

For decades, cruising Main Street has been part of Vancouver culture. Cruisin’ the Gut later turned that tradition into an organized community event along this same stretch of Main Street. For Halloween, we are leaving the cars behind and cruising it on foot.

The walk will be approximately 2.5 miles round trip at an easy, conversational pace.

We will start shortly before sunset, so the walk should transition from daylight into dusk and then darkness as we make our way along Main Street.

Costumes are encouraged but absolutely not required. Come dressed up, come dressed normally, or come wondering why you voluntarily agreed to follow Michael Myers down Main Street.

Please leave costume weapons or realistic weapon props at home.

I will arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early to socialize and help anyone who has questions or concerns. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive early so we can meet before the walk and I can introduce you to some of the people who are already there.

We will start walking between 5:47 and 5:50, depending on when the group is ready. When we leave, we will post the exact departure time in the event comments so anyone running behind knows when the group started walking.

This is a social walk. You do not have to talk the entire time, meet everyone, or keep up with every conversation. Come as you are.

We meet. We walk. We talk.

For Halloween, apparently we also follow Michael Myers down Main Street.

As always, feel free to come and go as you please. Stay for the whole walk, join us for part of it, or head out whenever you need to. There is no pressure to stay until the end.
