Vancouver Walk & Talk: FV Walk/A Flight Through Time at Pearson Air Museum.
Details
Officers Row & Fort Vancouver History Walk
The walk begins around the scheduled start time in front of Grant House on Officers Row.
I will arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early to socialize and help anyone who has questions or concerns. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive early so we can meet before the walk and I can introduce you to some of the people who are already there.
We will usually start walking between 2 and 5 minutes after the scheduled start time, depending on when the group is ready. When we leave, we will post the exact departure time in the event comments so anyone running behind knows when the group started walking.
From Grant House, we will walk west along Officers Row to the Marshall House. From there, we will head back past the front of Fort Vancouver and the Pearson Air Museum before returning to Grant House. It is a simple sidewalk loop that is easy to follow and makes it easy for the group to stay together.
Along the way, we will pass some of Vancouver’s oldest historic sites.
- Grant House was built in 1849 and was home to Ulysses S. Grant when he served here as a young army officer.
- The Marshall House is one of the park’s original officers’ residences.
- Fort Vancouver was the center of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s fur trade empire in the 1800s,
- Pearson Air Museum sits on one of the region’s earliest airfields.
- Historic Apple Tree
