Vancouver Walk & Talk: Salmon Creek Greenway Walk
Details
Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Klineline Pond Park near the baseball fields and restrooms.
I will arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early to socialize and help anyone who has questions or concerns. Newcomers are encouraged to arrive early so we can meet before the walk and I can introduce you to some of the people who are already there.
We will usually start walking between 10:02 and 10:05, depending on when the group is ready. When we leave, I will post the exact departure time in the event comments so anyone running behind knows when the group started.
From by the bathrooms/baseball fields, we’ll walk onto the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail and follow the paved path along Salmon Creek, wetlands, and restored natural areas. We’ll continue along the greenway before turning around and returning the same way.
The full walk is approximately 5 miles round trip. The trail is mostly flat and paved, but the distance makes this a longer walk than many of our regular events.
Difficulty: 2 to 3 out of 5, mostly because of the distance rather than elevation or terrain.
We’ll walk at an easy, conversational pace. The goal is not speed or exercise performance. We’re here to meet people, walk, talk, and enjoy the trail. We’ll keep the group together and adjust the pace as needed.
As always, feel free to come and go as you please. Stay for the whole walk, join us for part of it, or turn back whenever you need to. There is no pressure to stay until the end.
Salmon Creek Greenway follows part of the Salmon Creek restoration corridor, with wetlands, creek habitat, wildlife areas, and restored riparian vegetation running through an otherwise developed part of Vancouver.
Please plan to arrive early. Once the walk starts, we will not coordinate late arrivals by message. You are welcome to catch up along the posted route or join us next time.
We meet, we walk, we talk. Everything else is optional.
