Behind the scenes of a cryptocurrency exchange [Andraž Bajt, Bitstamp]

Abstract:
Crypto currencies have been all the rage for the past year or so. We'll peek behind the curtain of one of the larger exchanges that offers them - Bitstamp (https://www.bitstamp.net/). In the first part we'll look at exchanges in general and how crypto exchanges compare and where are the differences. In the second part we'll dive into Bitstamp specifics. We'll look into some interesting numbers and the December bull run with all the craziness that surrounded it. We'll finish off with a deep dive into processing trades, how orders flow, and different components of our systems that participate.
