Carpinteria Bluffs - Beach Hike to Lunch Downtown

Join us for a five mile (round trip) hike along scenic Carpinteria Bluffs from the Bailard Trailhead to downtown Carpinteria for lunch. Along the way, we'll pass the Harbor Seal Rookery, the pier, Tar Pits Park and Carpinteria State Beach. Once past the rookery, we will have the option to descend the stairs to the sand and continue into town along the beach. Those wishing to add a little more distance to the hike can continue another half mile north to the Salt Marsh Preserve and its' educational and well executed nature trail. That will add about a mile and a half to the overall distance. There are lots of choices for eats in downtown and we'll have plenty of time for a leisurely lunch and a bit of shopping before beginning our return to the trailhead. Or. if you prefer, take in the shops and return on your own schedule.
