Meditation on Right Effort of the Noble Eightfold Path

Details

Please join me for my second morning of meditation using Right Effort facilitated by Pat Tallman, a lay practitioner of the Noble Eightfold Path taught by the Buddha.

Pat has many years of experience practicing Vipassana as taught by S. N. Goenka and Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (WTIM) as taught by Bhante Vimalaramsi.

We will practice meditation with the understanding of Right Effort (can also be thought of as Harmonious Practice).

The four Right Efforts (SN 49.1-12) are fundamental to your practice to eliminate unwholesome reactions due to concepts and conditions of the mind, and to transform them into wholesome responses to whatever arises. This is the retraining of the reactive mind into a mind that is calm at all times. Pat will share a tool taught to to him by Bhante Vimalaramsi to help you remember HOW to practice regardless of the object you use for meditation.

Please note that everything is optional. If you wish to participate in any portion of this service, you are free to do so.
