Please join us for VSDC's bike ride in Columbia, MD with a pit stop at Brewing Good (the vegan coffee shop) and optional post bike lunch at Great Sage. We will start at Elkhorn Branch Trail towards Lake Elkhorn. From the lake, we will take Patuxent Branch Trail to Savage Mill. We will have a pit stop at Brewing Good (at Savage Mill) for a cup of coffee/tea (and hopefully some vegan treats). We will then trace our way back to the starting point.

We'll meet at 10am on Sunday, May 12.

Length: 19 miles
Difficulty level: moderate to strenous
Elevation change: 500 ft up and 500 ft down
Bike time: ~2 hours at moderate pace (~10 mph)
Total time: ~4 hours (including stops).
Biking surface: paved,
Route type: mostly paved trail, some roads
Break at mid point: Brewing Good at Savage Mall

Optional post bike outdoor lunch: Great Sage
The lunch spot will not be on the bike route and we will head there after finishing the bike ride. Please let us know in comments if you plan to join us so that we can have a number for reservation.

Food/Water: Bring your own vegan snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverage to enjoy. Please carry plenty of water!

Weather: we will not be riding in rain or windy conditions so stay tuned for Comments on this page.

RULES

  • Pets are not allowed
  • Use of intoxicants such as alcohol, cigarettes and/or illegal substances is banned during this event.
  • Practice safe biking habits including:
  • Wearing a bike helmet
  • Keeping a safe distance between each other (bikes don't have brake lights and tailgating can easily result in crashes)
  • Avoid side by side riding unless the road gives us ample opportunity
