VSDC Visits Piggins and Banks: A Pig and Animal Sanctuary Guided Tour
Details
Join VSDC for a one-hour walking tour of Piggins and Banks! Learn about pigs, why they're special, and how the sanctuary saves them. You'll also hear stories about each pig and how they came to live at Piggins and Banks.
The tour fee is $35 per person and supports Piggins and Banks' mission. Meetup charges an additional processing fee of $2.55 per person.
The tour will begin with a walk up to "Bert and Zeus' Neighborhood" and "Hulk's Haven" where you will be able to meet and feed (but not touch) many of the rescued pigs. They will provide the pig treats! Then we will make our way back down and head over to "Mary's Piggily Pleasant Pen for Friendly Pigs" where you can enter the pen and pet a few of the pigs that love attention. Next, we'll visit "The Lucky Lot," where the largest pigs make their home. As we pass the barn, you can see the horses (if they are not out to pasture). Finally, for the last portion of the tour, we will drive up to the north end of the sanctuary property to visit the "North Pig Pen." We will conclude the tour at "Nicky's Barn" where our oldest pigs spend their days in comfort. An added bonus: see/pet the rescue cats!
This is an outdoor experience! So please come dressed and prepared for the weather. Tours are rain or shine. In the event of severe inclement weather, we will contact you ahead of time via email or text message. Please provide this information during registration. If we miss you, you can check here for updates.
Be ready to walk and wear proper footwear. The tour will include walking approximately 1 mile. Closed-toe shoes or boots are required to enter areas where you may interact with the pigs.
A Piggins and Banks team member guides all tours. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 6 years old and pregnant women are not allowed. No dogs or other pets allowed. No smoking or vaping allowed.
No food allowed. This prevents our pigs from eating something they shouldn't. We will provide treats for the pigs. You may bring water or beverages. You may also bring fresh cut-up vegetables if you would like to feed the pigs some extra healthy snacks.
Transportation
Carpool opportunities may be available. Please indicate in the comments section if you'd like to carpool or are willing to take a passenger. Of course, please use good judgment when riding with people you don't know, and understand that VSDC cannot take responsibility for carpool drivers' behavior or availability.
