What we’re about
Vegan-Powered is about living life in harmony with people, animals & the planet. We are open to everyone on the vegan path & the vegan-curious. We embrace & seek to maximize our diversity.
Active vegans and vegan athletes (& coach potatoes!) of all activity and experience levels are welcome to our informal social network! Lets support each other with whatever goals we have from anyone just starting a fitness routine to the most experienced. We're here for you!
Yearly we have a VP (Vegan-Powered) team for the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary 5k (& 1 miler) in Wheaton, MD. Please join us or donate to our team!
You can also connect with us on Strava or Facebook.
If you have a suggested meetup or want to organize a meetup please dm me through Meetup or directly at thebootcampgirl@gmail.com.
Meetup is free for members but Meetup charges dues to organizers (that have continually increased). You can donate to help offset costs to keep the group going by clicking on the donation link below. You contribution is greatly appreciated!

See all- Laugh & Learn: Watch Improv Practice with a PurposeGlenwood library in Howard County, Cooksville, MD
Join us to watch an engaging and dynamic session of improv "edutainment" practice! 🎭
If you have improv experience, we might invite you to join us in a scene! Otherwise, you can watch our practice and engage with us as an audience member.
Be in Studio A and ready to start by 11:00 AM!
It's very important to wait until you are certain that you're attending before RSVPing YES. We need to have an accurate headcount in advance.
RSVP's:
YES= You can count on me because I'll definitely be there no matter what!
NO RESPONSE = Waiting to be certain before RSVPing.
NO = Not comingWe're gearing up for our third annual improv show at the Glenwood Library this fall on 10/4/25, where we'll creatively combine education on green lifestyle topics with entertaining skits and improv.
Content and Themes:
- We use material that's vegan-friendly, steering clear of jokes about animal harm or cruelty.
- We'll promote the environmental benefits of a plant-based lifestyle in our show. 🌱
Improv practice guidelines:
Only RSVP "YES" if You (and/or guests) are a Definite: Wait until you are certain before RSVPing YES. We had 8 no-shows & late-cancels for a practice, blocking spots for others eager to join. Late-cancels are an issue, especially when wait-listed people have a long drive. Let's ensure everyone who wants to be part of the fun gets a chance! 🎉
Same Day RSVP is OK!: Feel free to RSVP the same day if you can make it and can't commit in advance. We love having you there!
RSVP on the Calendar Every Time: Don't be a Gate Crasher! If you know you're joining, RSVP on the calendar instead of just showing up. We can't have unlimited numbers, especially in smaller spaces. It also gives others a fair chance to join in.
RSVP Minimums: I need to know in advance how many people are coming so I can cancel the room reservation if needed. We need at least 3 people, ideally 5, to practice all the scenes. Room reservations are very limited, and late cancellations could revoke our reservation privileges.
Be Ready To Start On Time & Stay the Entire Time: Let's get the maximum amount of practice time so we can be fully prepared for the show! Also, let's respect each other's time and commitment.
Some Practice is Better Than None: If you have other scheduled commitments, you're encouraged to join for partial practices. Please tell me in advance what time frame you'll be there so I can plan accordingly.
Stay Off Your Phones: Let's keep the focus on our practice and make it count!
Thanks for your cooperation and enthusiasm. Together, we'll make this show unforgettable! 🎉✨
Learning & Growth: here are some ways to learn and grow outside practice times:
- Improve Improv Skills: Attend Sol's workshops, Matt's classes, or free online sessions.
- Learn Zero Waste/Sustainability Topics: I post on my FB zero waste group. Explore other resources like Bea Johnson's Zero Waste Home book, my resources sheet, and YouTube channel: Kathryn kellog.
- Scene Development Discussions: Continue in the WhatsApp group.
- Other Learning: Books like "Tiny Habits" or "No Bad Parts."
- Sustainability Habits: Work on your own habits & share your experience.
- Research Help: Find eco facts and small actions people can take to reduce waste for our scenes.

This is the last Friday night salsa in Rockville/North Bethesda this year. The lessons and salsa are free!
Lets meet at 5:45 so we can get acquainted with other Meetup members.
It's from 6-9pm, I will probably leave around 7:30pm although I'm sure that others may want to stay longer if you'd like to stay for the full time.
If you bring and/or buy food or drinks to consume make sure that it's vegan during any vegan-powered event.
Here's the description:
