What we’re about
This Meetup's purpose is to bring together vegan and raw foodists every Friday in an intimate magical world music venue in the heart of San Francisco’s touristic North Beach district.
The story of Peña Pachamama, still open after 25 years, is a triumph of the Creative Spirit, of following one’s heart and the subtle inner direction which calls on us to express as best we can our own individual uniqueness. Unknown to us, this space turned out to be a landmark location built in 1918 to house San Francisco’s most historic speakeasy, and later, the beloved restaurant Amelio’s. Clark Gable fell in love here with Carole Lombard and Joe DiMaggio had his wedding dinner with Marilyn Monroe. It was so full of history, but also of a spirit that resonated with our work.
Nourishing a young restaurant and cultural center also brought us to an understanding of live foods and our health. To keep Peña Pachamama sustainable we created live food products, most notable being our Pachamama Kale Chips which won 'Best of Raw' at the RawLife Expo in LA last year. www.pachamamaraw.com
