What we're about

Vegan-ista is a community for ladies* who are interested in a vegan sisterhood. Whether you want to meet other vegan women, want to learn more about vegan cooking, or are new to the area and looking to meet some cool folks, this community is for you! You don’t need to be vegan to join—just interested! Although, for all events that involve food, please bring only vegan dishes.

We have potluck-style gatherings with a variety of themes (ex./ yoga in the park, Italian food and wine, around the world cuisine, etc.); attendees are asked to bring a dish that fits the theme and post the recipe to our discussion board.

We also host other events such as: local restaurant visits, organic garden tours, picnics in the park, beach days, bonfires, movie nights, hiking, special vegan events around town and even travel opportunities. All members are encouraged to feel comfortable posting and hosting their own events!

Vegan-ista's values are positivity, consistency, and vulnerability. These are the 3 requirements of all healthy relationships. Learn more from Shasta Nelson's TedxTalk, Frientimacy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmJyWreER7A .

Vegan-ista is a community where members connect and truly care to be present in each other's lives. If you're looking to connect with others in a deep and meaningful way, have space and willingness to invite others into your lives and schedules, spend time, commune and want to invite in sisterhood; then we invite you to attend an event to see if what we are trying to create fits with what you're seeking.

Policies:

Community participation:

We realize many meetups do not require attendance as we do. Our view about attendance is that if intimacy and trust have potential to be created in a relationship, consistent face time is a crucial piece.

Therefore in order to build an intentional community of vegan ladies, we require that members attend at least one event every three months. After three months, an organizer will check in with you to discuss your membership.

We know everyone has emergencies. But consistent, inconsiderate use of RSVPs -- which includes being a "no show," cancelling in the last 72 hours, or frequently cancelling RSVPs -- will lead to being removed from the group. Sorry, we still like you, it's just not fair to everyone else.

There is a $10 fee per member after a 90 day tria. Inability to pay does NOT preclude membership; please reach out to the organizer if this fee is a burden for you. We do not want this to be a pay to play group, but to feel like you are contributing to the groups well being to pay the yearly fees if you can.

Identification:

Please complete your member introduction and upload a real photo of yourself that shows your face. This approval process is a precautionary measure we take to ensure that this space is as safe as possible for all members, as we meet at member's private home spaces.

Inclusivity:

We welcome all people regardless of their age (18+ please), culture, disabilities, ethnic origin, marital status, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.

*We only allow female members but do post when certain events are public or coed so we can meet your friends, family and significant others! Anyone who identifies as female is welcomed; we are LGBTQIA friendly :)

This group is joyfully organized by Stacy. Please message us with any questions or comments! ❤️
