Come Volunteer at 'Ai Love Gardens!
Ai Love Nalo is a small cafe and wellness center in Waimānalo that makes delicious plant-based food inspired by our local Hawaiian cuisine. They have a wide range of health-related activities including lomilomi massage, sound meditation, yoga, gardening classes, cooking demos, and more! What I love most about 'Ai Love Nalo is their mission - “Making the world healthier and happier one taste at a time.” For example, their Hā’ehuola Wellness Program serves the Native Hawaiian community in the Koʻolaupoko by helping those challenged with chronic diseases to transition to a healthier diet and lifestyle that is culturally relevant and affordable. From their strong commitment to sustainable practices to supporting local farmers and the community through their Hā’ehuola Wellness Program, they are a true inspiration that epitomizes a sustainability-centric community-driven business model. The founder, Dr. Malia Smith, has a passion for preserving the Hawaiian culture and teaching the community the value of striving for food sovereignty here on ʻOahu. Moreover, Dr. Smith is committed to improving the health of Native Hawaiians through her systems-based approach to well-being and works tirelessly to create a world that compassionately considers the lives of all beings. To further her mission, she also works with Kevin Vaccarello, the founder of the non-profit, Sustain Hawaii, and together they have created ʻAi Love Gardens, a parcel that is currently being transformed into a closed-loop sustainable system. Their goal is to create a healing space, with organic orchards, healthy foods, tiny home models, a maker space, and walking trails so that their Hāʻehuola participants can reconnect to the ʻāina and learn how to live a healthier lifestyle. As a non-profit, they appreciate and welcome all the help they can get, and volunteering at 'Ai Love Gardens is such a rewarding experience. We hope you come to check it out! Volunteer days are every 3rd Sunday of the month. For more information, please call Dr. Smith at (808)[masked]. Please join us in helping to further their mission. “I can do things you cannot; you can do things I cannot; TOGETHER we can do GREAT things!” ~ Mother Teresa.

What is a vegan? The Vegan Society defines veganism as "... a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." It's more than a diet. It is a means of greatly reducing one's harm to sentient beings.
