Celebrate the season with a special holiday cooking demo featuring traditional Ukrainian dishes made vegan — warm, festive foods shared for generations during winter and Christmas Eve.

Our featured cook, Kate Voinova, moved to Austin from Kyiv seven years ago.

Missing the comforting flavors of home, she began recreating Ukrainian classics and started a family tradition of vegan cooking. For Kate, every meal is a way to stay connected to Ukraine and to thank the community that welcomed her — a small bridge between cultures.

You’ll learn how to prepare:

  • Borshch – Ukraine’s iconic beet soup, rich in color and flavor, symbolizing warmth and family during the holidays.
  • Deruny (Potato Pancakes) – Crispy, golden, rustic potato pancakes.
  • Vushka (Mushroom Dumplings) – Tender bite-sized dumplings filled with savory mushrooms, traditionally paired with borshch for Christmas Eve.

💛💙 These dishes reflect Ukraine’s plant-based holiday traditions — humble ingredients, rich history, and a whole lot of heart.

Come hungry, curious, and ready to savor a holiday meal filled with comfort, culture, and community.
