Recently I had the pleasure of a sightseeing and culinary adventure in Morocco's ancient and modern cities at the edge of the Sahara desert. I'd be delighted if you could join the NYC Vegetarian and Vegan group to enjoy the distinctly flavorful Moroccan food at Zerza restaurant.

This will also be a trip to explore the vegetarian & vegan options in the beautiful Essex Market building, such as Mille Nonne, Eat Gai, and Puebla. And also, the exquisite all-vegan Riverdel Cheese. Likely, I am thinking, most of us will order from Zerza. But please feel free to order from multiple vendors and whichever vendors you please.

Food: At Zerza, you can try their variety of starters, such as Zaalouk, Falafel Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, or indulge in a traditional entree such as Couscous and Falafel Sandwich. The most notable dish is the Moroccan Tagine with hearty vegetables in an aromatic savory sauce! Tagine is not only the name of the food but also the beautiful cookware which is designed to minimize water usage. PLEASE NOTE: Zerza is NOT all-vegetarian, so please confirm that your food matches your diet at the time of ordering.

Service: The staff are very accommodating to vegan/vegetarian dietary preferences. Food is served quickly.

Everyone pays for themselves; cash & major credit cards accepted.

FOR OUR NEW MEMBERS - We are an incredibly friendly, FUN, and welcoming group! Join us for a stellar evening of lively conversations and great food/drink with fellow vegetarians and vegans!

Train information:

  • Take F M J Z train to the Delancey St.-Essex St. station. Essex Market is right on this corner, above the train.
  • Another option is to take B D train to Grand St. station, then walk a few blocks east.

WHERE TO MEET: We will be meeting at the Zerza booth on the Ground Floor of Essex Market at 6:30pm.

WHERE TO EAT: After picking up our food, our group will be going upstairs to Essex Market's 2nd Floor, where there is a large seating area.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, Feb. 16 at Zerza, at Essex Market!

Michael
