Please join local PETA supporters to protest Carden Circus and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Circus' use of animals for entertainment!

Although Carden Family claims to be dedicated to compassion and service, elephants, tigers, and other animals exploited in circuses live under the constant threat of being hit with bullhooks—sharp steel-tipped rods that resemble fireplace pokers—whips, and other weapons to force them to perform confusing and painful tricks. Video clips from circuses show elephants jabbed with a bullhook, a tiger being whipped in the face, a bear urinating on herself while being forced to do a handstand, and other animals suffering in despair.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus announced its return to the circus ring using only willing human participants, and it’s time for Shrine circuses to follow suit!

When: Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m
Where: Shrine Mosque, 601 E St Louis St, Springfield, MO

Afterwards, join us for a vegan community gathering at Van Gogh's (334 E Commercial St.), arguably the most vegan-friendly restaurant in all of Springfield!

Their expansive menu features over a dozen delectable vegan options, including:

🌱 Vegan tofu scramble
🥞 Vegan pancakes
🍄 Curried fried mushrooms
🌭 Vegan brats on hoagies
🍋 Vegan berry lemon tarts

Van Gogh’s is a locally owned restaurant featuring a wide variety of Dutch delights. This elegant eatery is like stepping into Amsterdam for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, an experience unlike almost any other in the Midwest.

🐷 Why You Should Come:

With a population of almost 500,000 people, Springfield is the third largest metro area in the entire state of Missouri. Yet we lack a strong, unified animal rights presence.

Project Animal Freedom is here to change that. We are working to build a fully vegan Midwest by 2056 through a strategic, chapter-based system, and Springfield is our latest target. Why? Because our community has massive untapped potential that can be leveraged to save tens of thousands of animals from a lifetime of misery.

Please join us at this critical community- and movement-building meetup as we come together to:

🔮 Discuss the future of animal rights activism in our community
💡 Brainstorm ideas for community events
💚 Make Springfield a thriving, vegan-friendly hub

If you have any interest in plant-based living, meeting other plant-based folks in the area, and making a meaningful difference for animals, don't miss out!
