About us
San Francisco Vegan Society (SFVS) welcomes people wherever they are on the path to an all-plant, vegan diet and lifestyle. We promote the adoption of a vegan lifestyle for ethical, healthy and sustainable living, and offer a community for people to meet, learn, exchange ideas and interact with others interested in compassionate living for a better world. Together we can make this movement grow and encourage a way of life that is better for your health, better for the well-being of animals, better for the environment, and better for humanity.

COMMUNITY NOTES:
SFVS Code of Conduct: We want everyone to have a great time at our events. The San Francisco Vegan Society Code of Conduct is our simple way of making sure everyone feels respected, included and comfortable. It’s a shared promise to show up with kindness, listen well, and treat each other with care. Together, we create a space where everyone belongs and thrives.
Group Organizer: As of June 3, 2025, SFVS became the organizer of this group. SFVS uses this Meetup group to share both Official SFVS Events and Community-Led Events. Only events that display the SFVS logo in the event image are SFVS-sponsored events. All other listings should be understood as community postings, not official SFVS programming. Community-led events are hosted by members or other organizations and are shared as a courtesy when they are related to veganism; they are not sponsored or endorsed by SFVS.
If you have questions about whether a specific event is SFVS-sponsored, please email [events@sfvs.org](mailto:events@sfvs.org) — we’re happy to clarify.

Friday Hike and (optional) Lunch
Dragon Mountain, 3215 Calaveras Road, Milpitas, CA, USCome climb the "Stairway to Heaven" in Milpitas. See link below for photos of this interesting place that I came across on social media recently:

Unfortunately, it is not a dog friendly trail. :(Let's take our time to go up there and check out all the views and statues.
Optional lunch at Amazing Basil, 46831 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, CA, which offers a full vegan menu even though it's not an all vegan restaurant. Do you miss Lion Dance? Amazing Basil is a Southeast Asia fusion restaurant serving Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand style dishes.https://www.qooway.com/OLO/en?AmazingFremont&menuLanguage=en&menuid=7&SelectedMenu=Y

Potluck in Oakland and Vegan Buy Nothing Swap Meet!
West Oakland Library, 1801 Adeline Street, Oakland,, CA, USCome join us for a vegan potluck and Buy Nothing Swap Meet in Oakland Public Library, West Oakland Branch. If you are available to help set up at 1:30 pm or clean up after 4:00, please leave comments.
The potluck space is located in the large multi-purpose room with a large stage (see photos posted). We will also set up an area for anyone who wants to give away things (in good condition) they don't need. The items must be VEGAN with no leather, feather, silk, wool or any other animal components. If you are looking for something specific, feel free to leave a comment. Maybe someone else has one that's been forgotten and willing to pass it on. A big shout out to Michelle for suggesting the Buy Nothing Swap.
Please bring a vegan dish to share. You do not have to be vegan to attend this event, but every dish should be 100% vegan -- no meat, no fish, no eggs, no dairy, no honey, no products derived from animals of any kind.
We strive to be a zero waste event and you can help by bringing your own travel mug, bowls, flatware, cloth napkin, etc. Come prepared and reduce the waste generated at the event. Thank you for being part of the solution and for caring about the environment. Please plan to bring your own beverages. Drinking water and bathrooms are available on site. ADA accessible.
It will be very casual, come and go as you please. If you have any questions, please email events@sfvs.org.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
