  • Melo Velo beginners' road ride

    Woodside Town Hall Parking Lot

This is a ride for beginners. All female riders are welcome for socializing and support, but this is an easy, beginner, getting-used-to-road-biking ride. Meet at Woodside Town Hall in Woodside. We'll ride north on Canada Road and return -- 15 miles, rolling terrain. Like all our rides, this ride is led by volunteers. While this is a beginner level ride, participants should be comfortable with their bike (basic shifting and braking) and should be able to maintain a 10mph pace. While our ride leaders strive to support all riders and some one-on-one is available, depending on the size of the group, it may be impossible for the ride leader to ride with each rider.

  • Bike Skills 101 (fundamental bike handling skills)

    Bike Skills 101

Bike Skills 101 -- Fundamental Bike Handling Skills This 4-hour co-ed clinic is the foundation of everything else you’ll learn on the bike. This is the clinic where we teach the old dogs new tricks and the newbies the fundamentals. You’ll learn about balance and weight distribution and how that affects your ability to ride your bike safely and confidently. We’ll learn skills like riding with no hands, emergency stops, and how to look behind you while holding your line, how to steer, and counter-steer. After just four hours, we guarantee you’ll be a better bike handler and have much more fun on the bike. PLEASE NOTE: Bike Skills 101 is the pre-requisite for all other Bike Skills road clinic modules. This is an outside, on-the-bike clinic. You will need to provide your own bike, helmet, and cycling clothes. Please note, this clinic is not part of the regular Velo Girls (http://www.velogirls.com/) club activities. There is a registration fee for this clinic. We are not accepting payment via meetup. We have posted this event on Meetup for informational purposes only. You may RSVP on the meetup, but only those who have registered online @ http://savvybike.eventbrite.com (http://savvybike.eventbrite.com/) will receive detailed confirmation information.
