Firefly Hike In The Forests Of Sintra

𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒:

The forests of Sintra hide a secret that happens around this time of year - the season of the firefly. To see them we have to venture deep into the forest, at night time.
In the forests of Sintra, under the ancient cedars, we'll be able to witness their full beauty.
This hike will be around 15 km, so please come prepared for it.
The fireflies only come out if certain conditions are met--there's a small chance we might not see them; but whatever the case, it's going to be a night you won't soon forget.

𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓:

We’ll meet in Cascais and will take a bus to Malveira da Serra where we will begin our hike. Please be at the meeting spot on time, the bus leaves shortly thereafter, if you miss this bus we can't wait for you.

We'll take the train back to Lisbon in the historical center of Sintra. If you can, already bring your viva card charged to take the train back to Lisbon--it saves us having to charge it at the station, which might take us some time.

Please bring cash for the buses, they don't accept the Viva card unless you have the montly pass of 40 euros.

I'm part of a team of 5 coordinators, who lead an environmental NGO with biggest environmental volunteer program in Portugal, that has involved more than 30 000 people on climate action while also spearheading a plantation project that was responsible for planting more than 49 527 trees in little over a year(2023/2024).

When I'm not leading this NGO, I'm taking you on hikes to show you the beauty of Portugal's nature.
