Work Party at Lehigh Crossing Park 7350 Víctor-Mendon Rd Vic

Details
We will work along the pond shoreline, lopping off phragmites and other invasives. With all the rain, some invasive species, mugwort in particular, are quite easy to pull at this time, and has no seeds or flowers yet. We might also target some invasive honeysuckle before it produces seeds.
Please wear sturdy, preferably waterproof boots, work gloves, bring drinking water for yourself. Clippers or loppers may be helpful. I will have hand tools available for use. Park in the parking lot and walk to the pond where I will be. I will bring my car up with extra tools and supplies, and you may park near me on solid ground if you prefer.
The photo is of a native wildflower, common name Blue-eyed Grass of the genus Sisyrinchium. You have to be looking closely to find these little beauties, easily missed growing with wild grasses. As described by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
“Although the plant is small and has grass like leaves, the flowers have all the features of the Iris family”.
