Work Party at Lehigh Crossing Park 7350 Víctor-Mendon Rd Vic

Details
We will work along the pond shoreline, lopping off phragmites. We are finding more cattails and other native plants in the water.
Please wear sturdy, preferably waterproof boots, work gloves, wear insect repellent bring drinking water for yourself. Clippers or loppers may be helpful. I will have hand tools available for use. Park in the parking lot or drive up to the pond near my car where I make sure there there is solid ground.
The photo is from last week when I was exploring a few other boardwalks close to the pond. That emerald green immediately caught my eye and my first question was is this the horrible emerald ash borer? Luckily, she or he posed for a bit and my “seek” app ID’s a six-spotted tiger beetle ( this has been confirmed by INaturalist), a native that is a predator of other insects, a very good thing to have around to help keep our natural world balanced and healthy. I highly recommend walking quietly and slowly and you may be rewarded with a special treat.
