Work Party at Lehigh Crossing Park 7350 Víctor-Mendon Rd Vic

We will work along the shore, now at the north end of the pond by the boardwalk. Several native shrubs and small trees have benefited from having less competition from the invasive grass. We will work on clearing more of the phragmites for the natives Which are so vital for the wildlife.
Please wear sturdy, preferably waterproof boots, work gloves, wear insect repellent bring drinking water for yourself. Clippers or loppers may be helpful. I will have hand tools available for use. Park in the parking lot or drive up to the pond near my car where I make sure there is solid ground.
The photo is of the south end of the pond where we have opened the view of the pond. This year we are seeing so many cattails that are considerably more attractive as well as beneficial to wildlife as they are now out of the shade of the invasive phragmites.
This is a special project of VHT with permission from Victor Parks & Rec and hours volunteered here may count for community service for students as does any trail work done with VHT.
