Work Party at Lehigh Crossing Park 7350 Víctor-Mendon Rd Vic

Details
We will work along the pond shoreline, at the beginning at the north west shore of the pond. At the end of this week's event, we marveled at how quickly we are able to knock down phragmites after a few previous passes. Yes, the phrags keep popping up, but the native sedges, rushes, horsetails, grasses, shrubs and trees are also becoming more dominant and visible. The previous stands of mugwort are barely present, and easily uprooted with a quick yank. The Autumn Olive that were an overwhelming presence close to the pond, are now in a few areas that can be clipped back with a quick one-handed snip. There are no invasive honey suckle bushes lurking in the perimeter of the pond. With a few hours a week, and a handful of volunteers, we will continue to make progress.
Please wear sturdy, preferably waterproof boots, work gloves, wear insect repellent bring drinking water for yourself. Clippers or loppers may be helpful. I will have hand tools available for use. Park in the parking lot or drive up to the pond near my car where I make sure there is solid ground.
The photo is of a web that looked like a bejeweled necklace, one of so many moments of wonder that are there for us if we slow down and take the time to see.
