About us
We are a club dedicated to getting outdoors. Events are run by coordinators, and longer trips allow for carpooling from a major transit stop. We will be hosting hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, cycling, paddling, backpacking, and other events at a variety of different levels.
Information about club fees & fee structure : The $30 yearly fee that we collect goes towards paying for this site and for our insurance dues (and it's as low as we can possibly go!) The $30 yearly membership is good for all events from January-December. (In July, it is discounted for those only joining for half the year).
$2 drop-ins are collected for event participants who don't plan to attend as many events and you can drop in about .
*E-transfer option: We prefer that you pay your membership fee by e-transfer to our email, **victoriaoutdoorclub@gmail.com**. *If you are using this option, PLEASE make your profile name on meetup at least has a last initial - OR send us a screenshot of your profile picture. (We have received some unidentified payments in past)!
Waivers: As a standard outdoor club procedure, every participant is required to fill out our FMCBC waiver once per calendar year, and these are kept on file.
No-show policy & emergency contact form: We take attendance at each event which is marked on an emergency contact form.
If you don't attend an event you have signed up for, you will be marked as a no-show. (If you inform us ahead of time we will not mark you as a no-show). If you have 3 or more no shows, an event host reserves the discretion to remove you from their events. *We have seen an increase in non-attenders lately. Please be polite! Hosts are volunteering their time.

2026 VOC membership guidelines
Hello VOC Meetup members & site users,
Happy 2026, adventurers! The following are a few notes about the 2026 outdoors season!
***Membership fees: $30 for the whole year starting Jan. 1st. (The increase is due to increased fees from the Meetup site). We are encouraging e-transfers to our address at victoriaoutdoorclub@gmail.com**.
When you pay your membership fee, please do the following:
-make sure your meetup profile name is the same first name, ideally with a last initial, so I can match the bank account with the individual (you can pay your membership fees any time, and we will monitor our email address and add 2026 members as payments come in). This is the lowest possible fee we can charge members and still pay the club's bills (Meetup and FMCBC which provides insurance).
*Drop in fees - still only $2 (pay in person at events)
*Waiver - in person waiver is signed once per year in 2026
*Emergency contact form at events will remain the same.
**2 no shows per person per year only.** Please show respect to our volunteer hosts with a note if you can't come. What this means is that if you do not contact the event host to say you can't attend, or you don't remove yourself in advance from attendance at an event, then you will be removed from the club temporarily. We will not personally re-add people with more than two no-shows, but people with more than 2 no shows will have the opportunity to re-register for the club themselves.
*Note that the meetup site itself (not our team) is automatically removing people who haven't used meetup in 3 years. If you do get removed this way, you can request to join again!
*Seeking volunteers: VOC Meetup is looking for additional volunteer hosts for adventures (hikes, bikes, paddles... whatever your passion is!) Please contact Chelsea R. if interested.

IF I don't hear back from anyone about meeting at the carpooling location, I will expect you are meeting us at the trailhead!
