meet just inside the Bay Centre main entrance on Douglas Street (inside main doors next to winners) across the street from cactus club, by bus stops... Main front doors- not on fort st/broad! etc
This is an event for those who practice street photography or are interested in street photography as an art form. No experience is necessary but a desire to learn and to take photos on the street is a must!
We will spend time on Douglas street doing street photography and will walk around the city.
Street photography is people or architecture focused with a gaze on social issues or street life; but it can be anything you want it to be as long as it captures the real life and happenings from the street. It often seeks to capture or document some kind of commentary about the state of the city or neighbourhood (whatever that might be for you and your camera's eye). Given that it's street photography we will sometimes interact with people on the streets, please don't come on the walk if this makes you uncomfortable. Sometimes we will stand at the street corner or in shadows and capture images of people walking by, etc etc. Everyone can always engage or disengage at their own level of comfort. Please come with an interest in developing your photography skills or practice- this is not a strictly recreational or sight-seeing walk. We will go with the flow - always open to ideas for where you would like to go next!
Feel free to be independent along the walk and if you see something you are interested in you can always branch off on your own and then meet back up with the group after.
You can also use your phone camera if you don't have a camera.
If it's raining or too cold the walk will be cancelled.
Whoever is up for it can meet to have a drink together at the end of the walk!
