Looking for a break from the daily grind? Welcome to the Dunedin-Palm Harbor Video Game Book Club, a laid-back community for gamers who want to unwind and connect through the immersive world of single-player games. Each month, we select a game that everyone can enjoy at their own pace, and at the end of the month, we meet up in person at local spots—whether it's a laid-back brewery, a cozy coffee shop, or a scenic park.
Our group is geared toward a mature crowd, especially those in their late 20s to 30s who are looking for a fun, low-pressure way to escape from the routine of the 9-to-5. Whether you're a lifelong gamer or just getting back into it, this is a space to chat, share experiences, and explore the art of gaming with like-minded people.
As the group grows, we're planning to launch a Discord server for more ongoing conversations, game recommendations, and staying connected between meetups. If you're ready to relax, dive into a great game, and enjoy some great company, we’d love to have you!

Widely regarded as a world-renowned masterpiece, this title frequently lands on "Greatest Video Games of All Time" lists. It revolutionized the stealth genre by forcing players to survive in a harsh jungle environment using camouflage, hunting for food, and treating specific medical injuries. It features some of the most emotional storytelling and iconic, unforgettable boss battles in gaming history.
Here are a few quick notes to get you ready for this month's discussion:
Original or Remake: You can choose your own adventure for this playthrough! Feel free to tackle the iconic original game (or its Subsistence edition), or dive into the stunning remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, to experience the story with modern visuals and controls.
Perfect for Beginners: If you've never touched a Metal Gear game before, don't worry! Snake Eater is a prequel set in 1964, making it the chronological first chapter of the entire overarching storyline. It requires zero prior knowledge of the series to fully enjoy and understand.
