What we’re about
This is a platform for those who wonder and think about the world ahead. Especially for those who (want to) act on those thoughts.
Advancements across a range of human activities enabled by the exponential development of information technologies are changing the world we live in. Most of us know very little, if anything, about most of the products and services currently in development, which we will be relying on in a few short years like we are relying today on technologies which would have been difficult to imagine ten years ago.
Pace of change has been increasing basically since man learned to control fire, but we are now for the first time in history at the cusp of changes so rapid and fundamental that we just may be biologically ill equipped to stay abreast of them all.
Foretelling the future is often rightly considered a fool's errand. However, one thing is clear: the world and our society in 5, 20 and 50 years is likely to resemble some of the sci-fi movies much more closely than our current world. We can take a "wait and see" approach, but that might not be the most constructive way, to say the least.
Vienna Futurists is a place for those who choose to try to predict, based on data, evidence and logic, what the world will look like in 2025, 2050 and beyond. Better yet, let's help shape it by discussing our analysis and projections and informing policy at local, national and international levels.
Vienna Futurists is the forum for optimists and hopefuls, for eternally curious, for those who never cease to wonder, learn and try to understand, for those who want to take active part in shaping the world ahead, today.
Let's meet once per month to exchange views on what medicine, agriculture, education, transport - our civilisation, will look like tomorrow.
Please join the conversation. It would be wonderful to receive your contributions, ideas, thoughts, feelings. :)
