About us

Uncharted Discovery Circle – Philosophy & Open Dialogue Vienna

What does it mean to truly understand ourselves?
Why are we afraid?
What is attachement?
Are we at all in relationships with each others?
What is listening ?
This group is a space to explore these questions together, through honest dialogue, attentive listening and direct observation.
Our gatherings are inspired by the inquiries of Jiddu Krishnamurti, but you do not need to know his work, read his books or agree with him to participate.
Krishnamurti is a starting point for inquiry — not an authority to follow.
What we explore
There is no fixed programme and no belief system.
We may explore questions around:
• fear and insecurity
• relationships and attachment
• thought and conditioning
• comparison and desire
• loneliness and conflict
• awareness and attention
• freedom and responsibility
• silence and inner clarity
• what it means to observe.
Sometimes a question emerges naturally from the group. At other times, we may begin with a short passage, question or video from Krishnamurti.
The purpose is not to arrive at the right answer, but to discover what becomes visible when we look at something carefully together.
What happens at a Meetup?
We meet in a small group of around 4–10 people, allowing everyone space to participate without pressure.
The meetings are based on:
Open dialogue — rather than lectures or teaching
Deep listening — trying to understand before reacting
Inquiry — questioning our assumptions rather than defending them
Direct observation — looking at what is actually happening in ourselves and our relationships
There are no experts here.
No teacher and no followers.
No one is expected to convince anyone else of anything.
Sometimes there will be moments of lively conversation; sometimes there may simply be a little silence.
Who is this for?
You may feel at home here if you are curious about:
self-awareness · self-inquiry · consciousness · human relationships · philosophy · inner freedom · deep conversation
You might have studied Krishnamurti for years.
You might never have heard his name before.
Both are equally welcome.
What matters is curiosity, openness and a willingness to look at questions without immediately needing an answer.
People of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds are welcome.
What to expect
🌿 Small, friendly gatherings — usually 4–10 people
💬 Meaningful conversation beyond everyday small talk
👂 Open dialogue and attentive listening
📖 Occasional readings or short Krishnamurti videos
☕ Meetings in relaxed cafés, restaurants or quiet public places
🌍 English is our main language, but other languages are welcome in conversation
🤝 A respectful atmosphere where disagreement is possible without turning the meeting into a debate
There is no teaching, doctrine, guru or spiritual authority involved.
The spirit of the group
Rather than asking:
“Who is right?”
we are interested in asking:
“Can we actually see what is happening?”
And perhaps, through listening to one another carefully, something can be discovered that none of us could have reached alone.
If you are looking for genuine conversation, self-inquiry and the opportunity to meet thoughtful and curious people, you are very welcome to join us.
Come with your questions. No answers required.
