In the Vienna State Opera you can hear the best singers and the best orchestra in the world - and the best of all is the standing place, it's absolutely unique in the world that you can see an opera from such a good spot for such an incredible price. If you get a good standing spot, it's better than the most expensive seats for 250 euros! And you won't believe it, but if you get used to it, you won't want to sit down again, since you can experience everything better while standing.
Only a few years ago, you had to be there early in the morning in order to get a good spot, bot expecially since Covid, the standing place is quite empty most of the time, and if it goes on like this, they will remove it one day in order to replace it with expensive seats, so I decided I have to do something to prevent that!
The normal price is 15 euros (which is also incredibly cheap for what you get) - but with the BundestheaterCard (which costs 20 euros now, but you get 4 standing tickets for free, so in the end the card is free - but it takes several weeks until you get it) you'll pay 4 or 5 euros for a ticket.

But it's best to go to the box office and fill in the form there, that's also quicker!
Only with the card you can buy the tickets in advance, otherwise you'll have to line up in the afternoon (and I usually line up even though I have the card because the line is such a great opportunity to meet people, especially people who love opera 🙂)
