Most argue that faith is based on circular reasoning, but science is not. Science is based on evidence from the natural world, while religious belief is not. Scientific explanations are modified or abandoned when they conflict with evidence, while religious faith is not. But (there's always a "but" in philosophy), Joel Feinberg and Russ Shafer-Landau argue that "using the scientific method to judge the scientific method is circular reasoning." Scientists attempt to discover the laws of nature and predict what will happen in the future based on those laws. Does that mean science relies on faith?
