This discussion deals with themes of emotional pain, mental health, and loss. All are welcome. The room will be a safe and judgment free space.

Linkin Park built two of the most important albums of a generation out of that exact moment. Hybrid Theory was loud and furious and said everything you couldn’t say out loud yourself. Meteora went deeper quieter in some ways, more self aware, more exhausted. And then One More Light arrived in 2017 and the style confused everyone. Until eight weeks later when Chester Bennington left the Earth and suddenly nothing about it was confusing anymore.

This discussion is about what the music was actually saying underneath all the noise.

The focus is mainly on the first two albums. One unbroken conversation about pain, self awareness, and the gap between understanding yourself completely and being able to save yourself anyway.

We’ll explore questions like:
Why do we return to the things that hurt us most even when we can see exactly what we’re doing?

Is there a point where a person becomes genuinely unreachable and whose failure is that?

What do we owe each other when the pain gets too heavy to carry alone?

And the one that sits underneath everything what do we do when someone does everything right, builds wisdom from suffering, helps millions of people feel less alone and it still isn’t enough?

The songs I personally recommend at least listening to before coming in are:

Crawling - Hybrid Theory
In The End - Hybrid Theory
Papercut - Hybrid Theory
Numb - Meteora
Breaking The Habit - Meteora
Somewhere I Belong - Meteora
One More Light - One More Light
