Volunteer with 10,000 PB&Js
10,000 PB&Js is a volunteer led organization meets each week in White Plains & the lower east side to make and assemble several hundred meals and then distribute them in small teams throughout Manhattan to the homeless. The PB&Js and Hershey Kisses are their starting point: a means to begin a conversation, to listen and lay the foundation of trust necessary to offer more substantial help. This event is for PB&J DISTRIBUTION: Volunteers gather on East 9th at Ave B for orientation, then break up into teams of 3 or 4 volunteers who distribute food, clothing & toiletries on pre-assigned routes. Finish times vary by team: some will be done before 11 pm and other teams might work until midnight. THIS IS A RECURRING EVENT! 10,000 PB&Js typically feeds a couple hundred neighbors each Sunday and would be thrilled to extend a up to 6 distribution spots for our group each week! TO JOIN Please email P.J. directly at [masked]. Or check out their Meetup group: http://www.meetup.com/10000PBandJs

What we're about

There are lots of volunteering opportunities around the city but it isn't always the easiest thing to become involved. This group aims to provide a variety of opportunities that are fun and meaningful so that you can easily support a cause you're interested in. We'll do the legwork of contacting the organizations and all you have to do is donate your skills and time. Let volunteering motivate you to try new things!

This meetup is in its early stages, so any and all help is appreciated! If you know of any organizations that are looking for volunteers, tell us about them or tell them about us. And if you know anyone who is looking to volunteer, please feel free to lead him/her in our direction. More importantly, if you ever have any suggestions as to how we can make the group better, be sure to let us know by contacting us. Thanks - we're excited to volunteer with you!

Discover why some of the richest people in the world are not millionaires, they are volunteers. Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead
