What we're about

Let's help those in need!

Meet new international friends!

Learn other language and culture!

Wherever we are, there are people who are undergoing difficult times of life, and let's be there when they need us.

Let's look up for different types of volunteer opportunities in which we can participate across Korea.

Wouldn't it be nice to meet new people who are like-minded, and travel to new places and cities, to help those in need together?

Also, we just started our facebook. If you're a facebook user, please go visit our page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/koreavolunteers/ and stay in touch with our volunteer friends!

Let's Help Children - English to Underprivileged Children - Central Seoul

Hello Volunteers, Anyone up for teaching English conversation and basic grammar to elementary to middle school kids originally from very low income dysfunctional families and multicultural families? Our first pilot program of this kind at Dongbu as well as succeeding programs at Seongnam and Gunja regional children's centers have been going really well thanks to our volunteer members' lovely and hearty dedication. This one is our fourth program of this kind, and this center takes care of 15 to 24 children originally from very low income dysfunctional families and multicultural families from one of the most distressed neighborhoods in Korea. Their environment's been absolutely unlivable and undesirable for any children so they've been raised in foster homes and supported by church and local community. I'm very happy to find and open up this meetup as this center's located near Seoul Station in central Seoul and convenient for those of our volunteers living in central and western parts of Seoul. Here're more details. We need a small team comprised of 3 ~ 5 "NATIVE" English speaker members paired up with "BILINGUAL" Korean members, who will teach English to these underprivileged children who can't afford any private education, registered at Yongsan's Somang Regional Children's Center. Our team will eventually work on 1:1 ratio with roughly 12 to 16 kids registered at this center. * "NATIVE" English speakers mean nationals from 7 countries - Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, U.K., U.S.A. Singaporeans, Hong Kongese , and Europeans proficient in English grammar and verbal communication may join. ** "BILINGUAL" Koreans mean our Korean members who can participate in sessions, and help communicate and coordinate between our native speakers, the Center teachers, and the kids. These kids can not only afford any private education but also are lonely and not properly taken care of by their parents, so Seoul City's regional children's centers provide cares and certain protections to them after school hours. They're exposed to crimes and abuses if they're gone home early after school. Isn't it sad? If you have 2-3 hours of free time you'd contribute to education and wellbeing of these kids before enjoying fun and splendid Saturday afternoon in this city, let's help them together. I told to the Center staff that our volunteers need a break on weekends, and may not have enough time to prepare a lot to teach them systematically but leading some conversation and reading sessions may be doable. Is it?
