VTSQL: SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn

Details

The presentation will discuss what High Availability is all about, and then focus on SQL 2012 AlwaysOn. This technology is the evolution of clustering databases. It provides flexible failover policy and is a great improvement over Database Mirroring, mainly due to the concept of availability groups.

Hugo Shebbeare

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, with a brief excursion to study in Brussels, Melbourne & Washington D.C., Hugo has been working with SQL Server since 1998. He’s busied himself as a DBA since 1999, as independent consultant with his own company, Intellabase Solutions, since 2002 (now part time as of 2009), and recently took on a second permanent position with Canadian Multi-National Insurance giant Sun Life Financial; auditing and security of not only his favorite RDBMS, but also Oracle 10/11. He enjoys writing documentation for quick, safe infrastructure rebuilds and expansions, and most challengingly, propositions to Executives and Management. He has spoken at SQLteach/DevTeach in Vancouver, Montreal Dot Net User Group, Roman Rehak's Vermont User Group twice before, TechDays 2010 in Montreal… He has a weekly blog on SQLServerCentral, and was recognized as a SQL Server MVP in 2010 after three nominations.
