Saturday Morning Mindfulness Practice
Details
You’re warmly invited to join us for a morning of mindfulness in community.
This will be a simple, beginner-friendly outdoor gathering inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh.
We’re beginning our first few gatherings in a public park so new people can join in a relaxed and accessible way. As the community grows and we get to know one another, we may also explore home-based gatherings for those who feel comfortable practicing in that setting.
We’ll practice slowing down, returning to the breath and body, and walking together with awareness. No meditation experience is needed.
Our gathering may include:
Mindful breathing
Gentle walking meditation
A short guided meditation or reflection
Deep listening and simple sharing
Optional tea or conversation afterward
Wake Up KC is a small community of mindfulness practice beginning in the Kansas City area. We are still in the early steps of planting this garden, and our hope is that it will grow through the presence, practice, and care of everyone who joins.
People of all spiritual, religious, secular, and cultural backgrounds are warmly welcome. You do not need special beliefs or anything to prove. Come as you are.
Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. You may also want to bring water, tea, or a chair/blanket if you’d like to stay afterward.
Location: We’ll meet near the tennis courts at 11692 Blue River Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
Weather note: Since this is an outdoor gathering, we may reschedule if there is heavy rain or unsafe weather.
If you’re longing to practice with others, you’re warmly invited to join us.
