What we're about

Walk Cambridge is an active walking club and social group, aimed at working age people living in Cambridge and the surrounding area. The group offers a varied programme of events throughout the year. From our weekly walks and monthly pub meets to weekends-away further afield and our annual awards dinner, there's something for everyone. So if you enjoy walking and would like to meet a friendly bunch of like-minded people, why not give us a try?

Note that we're part of the Ramblers Association, which means that everyone is welcome to attend a few events to see if they like it, then those who wish to continue are asked to join the Ramblers, a small annual subscription for membership of Britain's national walking charity. For more information please visit http://www.walkcambridge.org/join.html .

National Young Ramblers Weekend in Cambridge

You may have heard that the National Young Ramblers weekend is coming to Cambridge this year (28-30 June 2019)! Young(er) Ramblers members (age being relative!) will be visiting from all over the country for a programme of walks, workshops and social events including a Saturday night ceilidh. Any Ramblers members interested in helping are invited to email [masked] to get involved - the NYR team (headed by Stag Walkers) have planned various routes with a choice of landscapes and walk grades to suit everyone but are still open to suggestions! Each of the walks will have two leaders, so you can team up with another volunteer to lead or back-mark a route. As well as joint leaders, helpers are also needed for other tasks such as shepherding attendees to the various walk startpoints and entertainment venues. For more information and to book for the event see www.nyrweekend.org.uk or the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NationalYoungRamblers/

Cromer, Felbrigg and Sheringham

Saturday 6th July. Cromer, Felbrigg and Sheringham. 11 miles. Grade: Leisurely A beautiful 11 mile walk taking in the Norfolk Countryside and coastal paths. Meet at 8:45am at Cambridge train station to catch a train to Cromer or meet at 11:28 at Cromer station. (The train leaves Cambridge at 9.09am). We start off walking south through the Norfolk countryside towards Felbrigg Hall (a 17th century Hall now owned by the National Trust). Next its walking along the Weaver's Way through the estate and deer park. Then its through the Countryside and viewing spot until we arrive in the fishing town of Sheringham where there is the option of returning to Cambridge. For those wanting the longer walk we continue along the coastal paths back to Cromer. No trip to the seaside is complete without fish and chips or sampling the famous Cromer crab. After a paddle in the sea and an ice cream, we catch the train back to Cambridge. Leader: David K. [masked]) ****Reminder: you are welcome to join the group for no more than 2-3 walks. After that, you are kindly invited to become a member of Ramblers UK! Membership is roughly £3/months single or about £4/month as a couple and entitles you to join any Ramblers walks or weekends away in the UK. Being a group member on Meetup or Facebook does not classify as Ramblers member. ****
