• Hike/Walk the South end of Pacific Spirit Park (UBC)
Note because of the many trails, it is very important to keep the same pace and together so we will be going at a good pace. I will be doing the south side every 2-4 weeks and the north side alternative 2 weeks in a separate invite Start the trail at the gate on 16th Avenue next to Camosun Park and walk into the forest. A short distance at the first intersection, turn left and continue along the trail until you come to Imperial Road. Turn right and walk a short distance along the road until you reach a big sign with a map of the park area. Walk past the sign and follow Imperial Trail for five minutes before turning left onto Hemlock Trail. Follow this trail as it passes the Sasamat Trail and eventually reaches a junction with the Clinton Trail. Turn right and follow the Clinton Trail, be careful of mountain bikers and horseback riders who also share the multi-use trails in this section of the park. Note this is the last washroom before the end of the hike. Once at a clearing, where you can hear the traffic along SW Marine Drive, take the Salish Trail to the right and disappear back into the peaceful forest. This section of the park borders an ecological reserve and signs along the route instruct trail users to stay on the paths and keep their dogs out of the ecologically sensitive creeks. As you walk, soak up the beautiful sights and smells of the Hemlock, Cedar, and Maple Leaf trees. The Salish Trail again meets up with the Imperial Trail underneath the power lines. Turn left and stay to your left as the trail forks a short distance later. After 10 minutes or so of walking, you reach an intersection with the Iron knee trail, continue north until you get to an intersection with council trail, at which you turn left, continue about 5 minutes where you reach sword fern trail where you go right north. At the junction, continue straight along the Sword Fern Trail (also called the Iva Mann Trail) and go right on the Salish Trail away from 16th Avenue. We go south until we get to hemlock trail, at which a left, which after a short while gets you to another left at nature trail. Continue until you see deer fern trail and go right, followed by a left onto huckleberry trail . A short walk along the Huckleberry Trail to the trailhead and you have returned to where you started earlier in the day. Note: washrooms are available closeby clinton, imperial, and a bit off from huckleberry. A great map is obtainable here http://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/pacific-spirit-regional-park/ takes about 2 hrs 15 minutes at a good pace

  • MORE AUTUMN COLOURS: Kitsilano to Kerrisdale to Kitsilano (10km)
This might be the last sunny Sunday for a few weeks. I have posted this route twice already in 2018 with the last time as a scenic route to Greek Day back in June. Basics: I recommend wearing good quality shoes plus bringing water…and a camera Meet Up Time: 9:45AM, Sunday, October 21st Start Time: Walking commences at 10:00AM Distance: 10km Pace: Let’s try for 5km/hr. This is a moderate pace for most walkers. Time: 2-2:15hrs. The # 9, 14 & 16 buses also run by both directions. At the end, the 99 B-Line is your best option to “get outta Kits!”

We meet rain or shine every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6pm in front of the bike rack at Science World and power walk a total of 10km along False Creek with a 10 minute water/washroom break once we hit English Bay. We finish by 8pm at the latest and you're welcome to join us for all three meet up days or else just once or twice per week. If you're feeling intimidated about getting back into shape, don't worry! We may love to get in a good workout, but also equally enjoy chatting with new people and mingling with old friends along the way. So bring a friend or work pal, lace up your running shoes and come for the workout fun, but leave with the new friends you'll meet.
