WALKING VOLKSSPORT NW

We will start gathering and signing in at Haggen's at 9:00AM and will begin walking at 9:30AM.

This diverse walk goes through quiet country on the edge of the town of Snohomish. Walk along a power line trail and continue on to the Centennial Trail and Snohomish riverfront trail. Then for a change of scenery, enjoy 1st St in historic downtown Snohomish with its many shops, and restaurants. Return through the historic residential neighborhood of Snohomish with 125+ year old houses. This neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Walk directions are available, or you can join a group.

All participants are welcome and must sign the event registration
waiver. Guests are welcome to join. Donations to support activities like this are appreciated.

Join Interlaken for our Walk in the City of Sammamish. We will be exploring a new 5K route.

We will be registering walkers at Ebright Park in the Parking Lot.
Trail is on sidewalks, trails and side of road.

All walkers must register at the start point. AVA Credit is $3. All walkers are welcome. Donations to support Volkssport Activities are always welcome.

You are welcome to bring your dog, leash laws, etc are required.
Restrooms available at start and parks on the trail.

After your walk warm up back at the start point for Soup and Refreshments and social time with fellow Volkssporters!

Please note: The NW Pathfinder lists this event to start at 4:00pm but the club is allowing you to start at 3:30pm to facilitate better lighted walking conditions.

Stroll on Alki – New Year’s Eve
Join us for our traditional New Year’s Eve event, which includes an evening stroll along Alki Beach for great views of the city lights of downtown Seattle, as well as a walk through the neighborhoods to enjoy the Christmas lights in West Seattle. Route goes past Luna Park, along Harbor Ave, and returns to the start point via California Ave.
Then return on New Year’s Day for another walking event, this one in the morning, also featuring a stroll along Alki for those fantastic views, but with a different route through the neighborhood for getting to and from the beach.

Driving Directions:
From I-5, take exit 163 (northbound) or 163A (southbound), and cross West Seattle bridge. Exit at Admiral Way. Go up Admiral Way a little over a mile to California Ave SW, a major intersection. Turn left and go 0.3 miles to West Seattle High School parking lot, adjacent to St. John’s Church.
Comments:
Restrooms at the start / finish. Strollers will have difficulty due to some stairs and hills. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Embroidered patch commemorating the event will be available for purchase. Pets are permitted but not in buildings. Owners are responsible for leash and cleanup laws.

TRAIL: (2B)–Walk on sidewalks through the Junction Shopping District on a quiet morning down to Puget Sound, along the waterfront to the Lighthouse, then back on dirt trails through Schmitz Park. Strollers will have difficulty. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
(1A)–5km Walk along sidewalks through the Admiral District with views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. Suitable for strollers. Not suitable for wheelchairs.

DIRECTIONS: I-5: Exit #162. RIGHT on Michigan St. Cross 1st S. Bridge (SR99S) in RIGHT lane. Take first exit (W Marginal Way/SR99S). At end of ramp, RIGHT on 2nd Ave SW. LEFT on W Marginal Way (stoplight). Move to RIGHT lane. STRAIGHT through next stoplight (Highland Drive). Stay on W Marginal Way in the RIGHT lane about 2.5 miles to the 5-way intersection at SW Chelan. STRAIGHT across intersection, BEAR RIGHT onto SW Spokane St. Move to LEFT lane and continue up Admiral Way (BEAR RIGHT to stay on Admiral Way). LEFT on California Ave SW (after Jack in the Box). In two blocks LEFT into West Seattle High School parking lot. Start is in St. John The Baptist Episcopal Church Parish Hall.
