New Year's Eve Alki 10k / 5k Volkssport Walk Event
Celebrate the last day of the year with Emerald City Wanderers Volkssport Club! Trail: Say farewell to 2018 with a scenic walk on New Year's Eve down to and along Alki Beach in West Seattle then back up the hill for spectacular views. It's rated a 2A. You'll enjoy holiday lights and decorations in residential and business neighborhoods, along with great nighttime views of downtown Seattle, Magnolia and ship traffic across Puget Sound and Elliott Bay. The 5km walk, rated 1A, does not go down to Alki, but does go to a great viewpoint of Seattle and Elliott Bay. Flashlights are recommended. Finish by 10 PM. Join us for hot soup after your walk. This walk is part of a 2-day event. Join us for a separate event and route on New Year's Day. Directions: St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church 3050 California Ave SW Seattle, WA From I-5 take exit 163 (northbound) or 163A (southbound) and cross the West Seattle bridge. Exit at Admiral Way. Go up Admiral Way a little over a mile to California Ave SW, a major intersection. Turn left and go .3 miles to West Seattle High School parking lot, adjacent to St. John's church and the start. Misc: This New Years Eve walk is part of a 2-day event join us for a different walk on New Years Day. Credit only is $3.00. Do you like to WALK? Want to spice up your routes? Extend your distance? Meet other local people who are interested in WALKING for fitness, fun and exploration. EXPERIENCE VOLKSSPORT with us!

There are a number of ways to VOLKSSPORT and distances vary. Most walks are 10k (6.2 miles) but there are many 5k routes, some 20k and also 32k and 42k routes at the walking festivals.

You can participate in year round walks, group walks, club walks, event walks and walking festivals! Your choice. If you are training for the 3 Day Cancer Walk come and train with us! We do walks from 5k to 42k! So much for the talk! Let's WALK!
