Stevens Pass - Wellington/Iron Goat Trail 5K/10K (not a group walk)

This is the first walk for the Autumn in Leavenworth and Beyond event week-end at Lake Wenatchee. Join us on your way to Lake Wenatchee/Leavenworth area!

Parking Pass Required: Northwest Forest Pass or Federal Recreational Lands Pass (Includes America The Beautiful)
We will be at the trailhead to register and give walk directions to walk from 9:30am-11:30am.
Trail: 5K/10K Rated 1B, Trail surfaces, pavement, natural surfaces.
Vault toilets at trailhead

Description: Wellington: See the portal of the original Stevens Pass railroad tunnel; the site of the Wellington railroad disaster; walk along and through several old railroad snow sheds; and great views of the Tye and Sky River valley.

Misc: All participants are welcome and must sign the event registration
waiver. Guests are welcome to join. IVV Credit for this walk is $4.00. $2.00 is paid to AVA for ALL walkers. Donations to support activities like this are appreciated.

Park at the Wellington Townsite parking lot and trailhead for the Iron Goat RR Trail.
N 47.44' 50.22" W 121.07' 39.35". The town no longer exits.
From Leavenworth: Drive west on US-2 to Stevens Pass. Just as you pass the ski area at the pass, slow down and start to descend west of the pass. You'll go around a sweeping right hand curve with a guardrail on your right. At the end of the guardrail (milepost 64.4), turn SHARP RIGHT onto the gravel Old Stevens Pass Hwy (unmarked). Follow the gravel road 2.8 miles downhill to a junction with FS Road #050. Turn RIGHT on #050 and go 0.4 miles to the Wellington townsite trailhead.

From Everett: Drive east on US-2 to Stevens Pass. Do not attempt to turn LEFT onto the FS road from US-2. There is no turn lane, traffic is going too fast and it is a blind corner. Continue up around the curve on US-2 a short distance to the pass. When you get to the pass, turn left (using the middle left hand turn lane) into the large gravel lot. Then turn around and start going back west bound the way you came on US-2. Just as you pass the ski area at the pass, slow down and start to descend west of the pass. You'll go around a sweeping right hand curve with a guardrail on your right. At the end of the guardrail (milepost 64.4), turn SHARP RIGHT onto the gravel Old Stevens Pass Hwy (unmarked).
