Everett Forest Park and beach walk 6 or 3 miles
Details
Popular Forest Park in Everett is the starting point for 10k (6 mile) and 5k (3 mile) walks. We picked the date to be able to enjoy a beach walk with very low tide on the 10k.
Registration is near the children's play area in Forest Park between 9:00 and 10:30 am. Maps and directions will be available. This is not a group walk. A donation of $4 per walker is suggested to cover costs to put on the walks.
The 10k walk features trails through Forest and Howarth Parks, descending down a circular stairwell to stroll along the beach to Pigeon Creek Trail. Herons, eagles, and osprey are often seen on this route. The return will pass through downtown Everett and nearby neighborhoods. Please note: Sturdy shoes and hiking sticks are highly recommended for the 10k route, as this involves some climbing over rocks and logs on the beach and possibly short stretches of muddy trail (but worth the effort!).
The 5k route offers a nice stroll through neighborhoods on paved sidewalks and road shoulders with one uphill stretch. It does not go along the beach and regular walking shoes are fine for this route.
