Walk and a free concert-in-the-park | Michael Monroe, a Minnesota legand

Details

(image courtesy of Michael Monroe's website) Show up early to assure yourself parking for this one. Michael Monroe (Folk/Jazz/Reggae) is extremely popular, and rightly so--he's a very talented performer. (If you'd rather pay to see him at an indoor venue, he's playing at Chanhassen Dinner Theater on Saturday, June 10, 2023--there's an afternoon and an evening show.) Michael Monroe plays original music as well as cover tunes familiar to Boomers.

We'll kick off by 5:30 pm and walk around the park once or twice (1.25 to 2.5 miles) , then settle in for the concert. Feel free to bring a snack, a picnic supper, or to-go/takeout food, and some water. Bring a blanket or a folding chair, in case you don't snag one of the stone blocks terraced up from the amphitheater stage to sit on. (The parking lot is close enough that you can go back to get your cooler, blanket and/or chair after the walk.)

Remember that mosquitos are repelled by light-colored fabrics. Feel free to apply insect repellent, but please do so away from other people (and downwind.) There usually aren't many bugs until dusk, so generally they're not too much of a problem.

Here's what the Three Rivers Parks website says, "Join us in the park for an evening of free, outdoor music with Michael Monroe. Michael’s unique creation of music leaves his audiences mesmerized as he blends his rich vocals, guitar, bamboo and crystal flutes, combining musical styles of acoustic folk and jazzy reggae. Michael’s original music and compelling energy bring a powerful style that is as much fun as it is innovative. Music and technology working together powered by creativity, and he recycles his music live onstage.
"The 2023 Silverwood OnStage summer concert series runs every Wednesday, June 28 through August 30, with free outdoor performances from 6:30-8 p.m. Bring a picnic blanket, lawn chair and others to enjoy it with! In the event of inclement weather, concerts may be moved inside to the Visitor Center’s Great Hall. Visit Silverwood OnStage for more information and to see the full lineup."
