The Tank Hill Walk (Starting Near the Civic Center BART Station)

Details
Now open for RSVPs. The only cost is $3 cash per adult. Kids free. We meet in front of a Starbucks right next to the Civic Center BART Station. Little known Tank Hill has such spectacular views of San Francisco that it rivals even the much higher Twin Peaks. We will have an outdoor lunch break so attendees should either bring a lunch or buy one at our starting point.
At 11:10 AM we will leave the Starbucks to use the restrooms in the SF Main Library. About 11:25 AM we will start walking West on Grove. We will walk on Hayes Street to Alamo Square which has the famous photo view of Victorian houses with a skyscraper background. Before we reach Alamo Square we will see on the North West corner of Hayes and Laguna an historic building that was in a great 1924 classic silent movie "Greed." It is about the only structure left existing from the career of legendary movie director Erich von Stroheim.
Then we walk through the Haight-Ashbury and up to the top of Tank Hill to eat our sack lunches while enjoying one of the greatest views in SF. Then we will walk down the long Pemberton Steps, walk up Kite Hill, sliding down a concrete slide will be optional, and then see the Clarke Mansion. We then walk through the Mission visiting another hill or two and finish at the 16th Street BART Station about 4:00 PM.
