Foremost, Happy Mother’s Day to our hiking mother’s and those who are fortunate to still have their Mother. I usually post the Strip urban hike at least three times a year to coincide with certain holiday events and to view the seasonal botanical display at the Bellagio. I use to MeetUp at the Tropicana Casino to begin this hike (walk) to view the sights at the south end of the Strip, but unfortunately the Tropicana has shut down as there’s going to be a new baseball stadium built at the site. This is a new course where I’ve yet to measure the distance and I’m not sure of the exact distance as there’s two trams that we can ride to which lessens the distance to probably just over 4mi. We’ll proceed from Tommy Rocker’s onto Flamingo Rd to the Bellagio Casino to view the botanical flower display, and proceed south on The Strip to the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, and after posing for pictures we’ll backtrack to Mandalay Bay, and return to the MeetUp location.
As noted, the exact distance of the walk is not exactly known, and the course is without much shade and it could be quite sunny and warm, where head cover and comfortable attire is recommended. Also, be sure to bring adequate hydration in consideration of your BMI, though there’s places on the Strip to purchase drinks. My wife and I will most likely have lunch at Tommy Rocker’s afterwards, and everyone is most welcome to join us. I’ll email the weather forecast to attendees the day prior when I make mention of the status of the hike. Lastly, please consider a small donation to Walking Las Vegas to help defray the cost of the annual MeetUp fee. Happy Trails…
