Cathedral Rock & Little Falls - via the Echo Trail

Apparently, the Cathedral Rock Trail has recently reopened, woo, woo. In an effort to conserve fuel, we’ll MeetUp at the Smith’s Marketplace (see pin map) near the Burger King. Parking is limited at the Echo Trailhead, which is why the hike starts earlier than I prefer. Please review the directions to the trailhead provided in “The how to find us” information section below the pin map to help with navigation even if you don’t expect to drive. There’s also a screenshot of the trailhead provided in the photos of the hike.

The Cathedral Rock and Little Falls hike via the Echo Trail is a moderately difficult hike of around 6.5 miles with a gentle elevation gain of over 900ft. The view from Cathedral Rock offers an excellent vantage point of the prominent features around Kyle Canyon and Mt Charleston, but be careful of the drop off on one side that’s not apparent when at the peak. The area near the Little Falls is rocky as are a few other sections of the trails where sturdy footwear is recommended. Be sure to bring adequate hydration in consideration of your BMI and perhaps snacks; though, I usually provide energy food (chocolate) for the general consumption. Dogs and kids are welcome to attend provided they’re well behaved and their owner cleans up after them.

The endangered Mt. Charleston Blue Butterfly is found no where else on earth - and consider yourself fortunate if you should happen to see one. Where Little Falls in the past has been an excellent location to spot one. I’ll post a comment of the status of the hike the day prior and make mention of the weather forecast.
