What we’re about
We are an all-age group, though a lot of us are Boomers. Originally, our focus was on exploring Santa Clara Valley/Valley of the Heart's Delight/Silicon Valley/ -- visiting local history museums, touring historic neighborhoods, walking and hiking all around the county, and gathering weekly for California History Movie Night.
Since we've seen about everything there is in The Valley of the Heart's Delight over the 9 years since the group started, we now tend to go further afield to get to know the towns and counties around us -- San Francisco, Oakland, Alameda, Danville, Walnut Creek, and more.
We have three big favors to ask of members: please don't sign up if you aren't sure you will show up absent an emergency; PLEASE READ EVENT DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY for your own good, so you know what to bring and what to expect, and please make a donation from time to time to organizers to help with Meetup costs.

•OnlineCalifornia History Movie Night: Long Beach, and a few old favorites
OnlineEach week we've been gathering to learn something about California's rich and interesting history -- for a little over 15 years. We began meeting online during Covid, and have continued to do so as we gained viewers from different states and countries.
This week we'll be learning about Long Beach. After searching extensively about Long Beach's very early history and finding almost nothing, it seems possible it just falls under the category of older Los Angeles history. We'll try to figure that out.
Please join the meeting through this link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5943577540Sadly and inexplicably, over the past few weeks we have had technical troubles and difficulty in sharing videos with everyone at the same time.
In case we encounter such hassles again, we'll watch each movie simultaneosuly but separately, and then rejoin the Zoom meeting to talk about it. Therefore, the list of links you might need are listed below -- but please join us through the regular meeting link above to start:LONG BEACH – CALIFORNIA HISTORY NOVEMBER 5, 2025
