The Walking Social Club has has been making friends and having adventures since March '24, and is now moving to this new public group as the old one was permanently set to private. It didnt make any sense to have it that way as Meetup hide events from the app unless searching specifically. Anyway. For those that don't know...

Welcome to The Walking Social Club!

A free walking group with occasional events and activities, for adventure lovers who want to explore parts of Cardiff and its surrounding areas on foot.

For nature, city, and park walks, shorter routes are generally on weekday evenings and longer on Sunday afternoons. Social events & activities are varied and sporadic!

✌️ We welcome new, friendly faces. We've all been newbies - I was nervous at my first event, too.

⚠️ Be prepared! Please check the weather forecast and wear sensible and appropriate walking gear and boots. Routes and paths are often uneven, steep, wet, and muddy!

🐕 Dogs are very welcome on our walks (the more the merrier!) but must be kept on a lead in areas that require it. You must be fine walking with dogs, as there are usually attending at every walk.

🥪 Bring some water, and some snacks if you get hangry. Some bring a light packed lunch, we usually stop for 20 mins at the top.

🕒 Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend, it saves us from hanging around. We will set off 10 minutes after the event start time. End times are always estimated ( please don't make plans immediately after the end time.)

📷 Not everyone wants their photo taken; politely ask before taking pictures of other members at any point during a walk. Please message me if you want a photo of yourself removed.

🗺️ Let's try staying together and remain with the walking group during the walk. Spreading out will naturally occur, but if you are way ahead, please wait at the next plateau or fork in the path. If you're at the back or have gotten lost, please message the walk leader; they will be waiting for you further along or shout to wait up or make a exerted effort to catch up, we will always wait for you as we don't always provide a back stop.

⭐ If you consider leaving us a public review, they help the group grow, but please remember you're *not* rating the weather, the music, the restaurant's food quality nor if you didn't like hills or view at the top! You are rating the group itself and the free events that we volunteer our time to organise for you.
